Excerpt Tuesday – On Being an Artist – Kocot

OnBeinganArtist

Saturn seems habitual,

The way it rages in the sky

When we’re not looking…

-Noelle Kocot-

I am pleased to present today’s illustrated excerpt, as it represents the first collaborative effort of 2016 here at Illustrated Poetry!  The pen drawing is by my friend and colleague, Ms. Chiara Ricci-Tam, who is usually busy saving the world through science (when I’m not bugging her to draw for poems I send her!). Chiara’s work has been featured here before – her illustrations have accompanied verse by Emily Dickinson and Michael Palmer. The poem is “On Being An Artist” by Noelle Kocot – I definitely recommend reading the whole wonderful poem here!

    1. Thank you, Olga! I completely agree – the hands were the first element that caught my attention and they seemed to guide me to the other elements in the composition. You can see why I keep bugging Chiara to draw for IP more! 🙂
