Excerpt Tuesday – Yellow Tom – De Jong

YellowTomI am on a bit of a cat-poem kick – which is not a bad thing, I think! Today’s excerpt comes from David De Jong’s poem “Yellow Tom.” You can check out the whole poem here. De Jong was a prolific author, ultimately publishing 13 novels. He left his Ph.D program after one of his novels was bought by a major publishing company and wrote full time thereafter. There are moments every Ph.D student dreams of such a fantastical escape from graduate school – so I suppose it is good for PhD graduation rates that it doesn’t happen very often! Drawing (ink on paper) and composition by me.

    1. Thank you! That’s a great poem – I’m bookmarking it! I know for certain that my cat has had many (or all) of those cat thoughts. Thank you for sharing – one can never have too many cat poems, I am sure. 🙂
