Double Original Friday – Wales Haiku 2

This is another haiku I wrote while on the Offa’s Dyke National Trail in Wales (see here for last week’s offering). Our first day on the trail was a nearly relentless rainstorm. This bull didn’t move a muscle except to watch as these two dripping wet Americans sloshed by him. After that day we reasoned there was nowhere to go but up weather-wise. We were sort-of right…Happy Friday! Photograph, composition, and haiku by me.

    1. Thank you, Jilanne! Yeah, the bull was not impressed. His lady friends were resting in the field behind him and he was not going to brook any nonsense from us! Was very glad of the barbed wire fence 🙂

    1. Thank you, Claudia! These woods were absolutely amazing – my first time spending any quality time in the English countryside. They did have such a unique atmosphere, especially for us two SoCal natives, raised on desert vistas!

    1. Thank you, Janette! I tried to write a little during breaks from hiking and managed to write these haikus – I’d had ambitions for something more extensive but upon returning home, I realized these short poems had really captured it!
