Old Poem Saturday – Epigram by Harrington

oftreasoncrop copySir John Harrington (also spelled Harington) was an Elizabethan polymath: here we remember him for his poignant epigram on treason (one of his many poems), but he is more often remembered as the inventor of the flush toilet. This is yet another example of how we can never be sure what our lasting legacy will be! The photograph was taken at the Houston Butterfly Center by Dr. Rachelle Trial – friend, colleague, photographer, and aspiring science writer – find her here and here. Composition by me. Have a great (and blizzard-free) weekend!
