Today’s illustration accompanies an excerpt from Gerard Manley Hopkins poem “Heaven-Haven.” You can read the whole (very short) poem here. The drawing is one from a series of portraits I’ve been doing using only colored pencils. In this session, the model was watching a video on the internet (sorry, don’t know what that video was of!) and I tried to capture the captivation glowing computer screens have on us. The first stanza of Hopkins’ poem is the sentiment I feel as I watch the trees turn bare and the temps swing towards single digits. Drawing (color pencil on paper) and composition by me.
