“Among the rain and lights I saw the…” William Carlos Williams tattoos

As William Carlos Williams’ poetry inspired the artist Charles Demuth, so has his poetry inspired many to indelibly write it on their skin. These three examples are simply lovely – two minimalist and one with “This is Just to Say” in its entirety.

A = just fantastic example of distilling a poem to its essence for a minimal yet compelling tattoo. From The Autumn Star blog.

B = This wonderful example of an illustrated poetry tattoo belongs to Mr. Hud Bannon of The UnTexan – tagged “My Birthday Tattoo”

C = As a foil for the tattoo in “A,” this one is the entire poem – with good sizing and (probably extra painful) placement. Found on Slow Love Life in a post titled “Literary Tattoos” and tagged “Sara had had a William Carlos Williams poem inked down her side…” No artist information.
